Where the hell is summer?

Thursday, Molly and I drove out to Rakaia for a playdate (great fun thanks Gret, must get one of those tube things for Moo to run riot through here!).

Anyway, on the way, we drive towards the Southern Alps, it's beautiful. But 21 days into 'official NZ summertime' there was new snow on top of them, LOTS of new snow. Plus an awful lot of wind, rain, hail and general yuckiness. Add this to the weather that whipped through the bay last night - I honestly thought our roof was coming off a couple of times.

I'm beginning to think (she says, with a serious face and tongue firmly stuck in cheek) that there may indeed be something to this global warming business, what do you think?!?

Good job we didn't come to New Zealand for the weather eh? feeling quite at home right now. The fairy lights are twinkling in the gloomy afternoon drizzle, the fire is lit (no kidding, it's that cold), the wind is howling and hubby is on his way home for the holidays. All is right in our little world.
